Obituary of John Grove

David John Grove Jr., born November 1, 1962 to the late David Grove Sr. and Mary Grove in Oklahoma City, OK, left earthside to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2025 after a brief battle with lung cancer. Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Rebecca Caputo. John is survived by his wife, Lisa Grove; Four children: Jacob (Nicole) Grove, Emory Grove, Autumn Grove, and Timothy Grove; his grandchildren: Callan Grove and Hallie Grove; He is also survived by his step-birth daughter Danielle Rose Pirie, and her son Cole Hillis; his brother James Pointer, and a sister, Angela Pointer. John’s life is a testimony of God’s grace and goodness. He grew up in a challenging household and made several choices that resulted in sorrow and misery. It was not until he gave his life to Christ that John’s life truly blossomed. His years of service to Christ started in 1989, encompassing great adventure. He walked the state of Montana to promote awareness of pro-life issues. He met and married the love of his life Lisa, and together they served the Lord in Tajikistan for three years, creating and managing a program for orphaned boys giving them work, dignity, and the Gospel. After Tajikistan, he returned to his home state of Oklahoma, where he served in local churches, and worked in new home warranty customer service. He often said his job was bringing the nations to him as he met with a variety of people from around the world as he managed the issues with their homes. In 2015, John and Lisa moved to New York, where he found a new love, driving bus 463 for the Horseheads CSD. He loved the children entrusted to him, and they loved him as well. In his spare time, John was an avid woodworker, and made several projects out of wood. He also enjoyed gardening, as well as PC gaming, with his two favorite games being Skyrim and Fallout. He was well known within the community of those games, and even worked as a play tester with Bethesda. John will be greatly missed, but we will rejoice in knowing that his life was lived as a testament of God’s grace and glory, and he is now at peace in his heavenly home.
