Obituary of Sandra L. Mix
Sandra L. Mix (Rosekrans)
Age 87, formerly of Erin, NY. She was born June 5, 1938 in Elmira, NY; the daughter of the late Merritt and Roseanna (Potter) Rosekrans. Sandra passed peacefully on the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by siblings and her daughters, Linda Spence and Karen Husner.
She is survived by her husband Frank W. Mix; they were married on July 6, 1962. They would celebrate over 62 years of marriage; their children Frank (Melanie) Mix of Athens, PA, Missy (Dr. Aleksander) Rupik of Horseheads, NY, and Marianna (Bryan) White of Elmira, NY; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Sandra worked as a waitress while raising their family and attending school to become an LPN. She retired from the Elmira Psychiatric Center in 1995, spending her free time as an avid painter, writing - especially articles for the small-town newspaper, sewing, and crocheting for family members. She found such a community in her fellow members and congregation of the Erin United Methodist Church, where she felt that everyone was her
best friend.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Her funeral service, officiated by Rev. Kevin J. Austin, will be held there at noon. Following will be a procession to North Chemung Cemetery for committal and interment.
