Obituary of Marilyn Baldwin Tressler

Marilyn Baldwin Tressler Marilyn Baldwin Tressler, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Wayne P. Tressler, and their three children: Scott W. Tressler, Joel D. Tressler (Ellen), and Patricia T. Douglass. Marilyn was the proud grandmother of five grandsons: Kyle M. Tressler, Cole M. Tressler, Hunter C. Douglass, David "Garvin" Douglass, and John C. Douglass. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Marie "Midge" Divincenzo (Carmen); one niece; several nephews; and countless dear friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bert A. Baldwin and Thelma C. Baldwin; her sister, Darline B. Bahantka; and her brother-in-law, John "Butch" Bahantka. Born in Elmira, NY, Marilyn graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1953. That same year, she began working for the New York Telephone Company, where she dedicated her career until retiring in 1986. Following retirement, she and Wayne spent five years traveling the country full-time in their RV before settling into the Timber Pines Retirement Community in Spring Hill, FL, where they enjoyed 18 wonderful years. In recent years, Marilyn made her home in Simpsonville, SC, to be closer to her children. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marilyn found her greatest joy in family gatherings. She was known for her warmth, infectious laugh, easy friendship, and love of traveling—especially road trips with Wayne. In NY, she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In FL, she became an active member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church, where she and Wayne enjoyed helping collect food for the pantry. In SC, she joined Earle Street Baptist Church in Greenville, where she belonged to a women's mission group, Serendipity. Family and friends are invited to visit Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main Street, Horseheads, NY, on Monday, September 15th from 11am to 1pm. Her funeral service begins at 1pm. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
