Obituary of Eleanor F. Swick

"Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love." —Mother Teresa And so it was with Eleanor Swick, who was welcomed into the arms of her Savoir on October 3, 2025. After more than 14 years of separation, she was reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Stanley M. Swick of Apalachian, New York. In addition to her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by her parents Wojciech "George" and Frances (Kovalewski) Omolecki; sisters Sophie (Henry) Kucharski and Helen "Tina" (Charles) Romanowski; brothers Francis and Joseph (Marie) Omolecki; sister-in- law Arlene Jarrett; brother-in-law John (Rose) Swick; nieces Carol (Charles) Kasulanis and Jean Omolecki. She leaves behind her devoted son, Michael S. Swick of Elmira; sister-in-law Bernadine Omolecki of FL; nephews Eugene (Arlene) Kucharski of Apalachin, NY, Mark (Gail) Omolecki of Hazelton, PA, Eugene (Karen) Romanowski of Bethlehem, PA; nieces Jean Romanowski of Collegeville, PA, Barbara (Ron) Litchkowski of Branchburg, NI, and many great nieces and nephews who knew her simply as, "Aunt Norch." She will be remembered most for her beautiful smile, and her love of family, and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker, creating an atmosphere of warmth and love for all who entered. Her devotion to detail made sitting around her table a unique experience. You never left her table hungry or unsatisfied; she made sure you were stuffed. She loved cooking meals for Stanley and their son Mike; they were her pride and joy. Eleanor was an amazing baker, her coconut and banana cakes were among the fan favorites. Eleanor enjoyed Christian fellowship, crossword puzzles, keeping up with current events, dancing with her husband and taking long walks. Picking apples in the fall, riding the local carousel, eating at the Chinese Buffet, and spending time on her sun porch will remain cherished memories for her family. Eleanor's twinkling eyes and endearing smile will be missed. She lived a long and happy life with those she loved; who could ask for more. Family and friends are invited to her graveside service on Tuesday, October 14th at 1 pm in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery, Westlake St., Horseheads, NY. In lieu of flowers please remember Eleanor with donations to your local animal shelter, fire department or deputy sheriff's association.
