Obituary of Azubah L. Rice

Azubah "Zubie" Lynch Rice Passed away following a lengthy illness at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, New York on Friday, October 17, 2025. Zubie was born on September 15, 1939 in Ohio to Harry and Vivian Lynch. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1957. She married her beloved husband, James "Jimbo" Rice in 1958, who predeceased her in 2013. Zubie is survived by her sons Bradley (Cathy) of Horseheads, Eric (Lisa) of Elmira Heights, and James (Michelle) of Argyle, NY; along with her grandchildren Ashley (Aaron), Matthew, Karthryn, Jesse (Marcie), Meagan, Lindsey (Steve), and Mackenzie Rice; great grandchildren Angelina, Haleigh, Madeline, Samuel, Evelyn, Josie, Hudson, and Maya; her brother Milton (Sandy) Lynch; and sister Lyndora Kellogg. Zubie worked for the former Barkers and Hills department stores. She enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren participate in sporting events. She also enjoyed playing golf and was a die-hard Yankee fan. Zubie was an active congregant at the Horseheads Community Wesleyan Church, where family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 from 1 pm – 2:30 pm; her celebration memorial service will begin at 2:30 pm.
