Obituary of Patricia H. Knope

Patricia H. Knope, age 94, passed away peacefully on 28th December 2025 in Elmira, New York. She was born in Rochester, New York, and lived a long, full life marked by thoughtfulness, independence, sharp intelligence, and a quick wit that stayed with her to the end. She also had a talent for cutting through nonsense, something family and friends relied on and appreciated. Patricia lived through nearly a century of change, meeting life’s joys and challenges with grace and kindness. She took pride in her home, her family traditions, and the simple pleasures of daily life. To those closest to her, she was a source of guidance, inspiration, reassurance, and love. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Knope-Bullivant, as well as cherished family members and friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Russell F. Knope, MD. Their partnership was central to her life, and she carried that love with her long after his passing. She loved being outdoors and being active. She was known for not letting the grass grow under her feet. That connection to the outdoors remained an important part of who she was throughout her life. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that her memory be honored through an act of kindness, reflecting the way Patricia lived her life or by making a contribution to Tanglewood Nature Center, Elmira, NY.
