Walter T "Laddie" McNeil

Age 86 of Horseheads, NY. Walter was born June 28, 1939 in Elmira, the son of the late Walter J. and Bessie (Stanton) McNeil. He passed peacefully at home, family by his side, on Saturday, March 14th, 2026.

In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his loving wife Clara (Hartman) in 2022; along with daughter Corena Bebe; stepson Ernie Maynard; and his sisters Della, Maudine, Louise, and Jacqueline.

Laddie served his country in the US Marine Corp, active duty from 1956 to 1958 before several years of reserves. After his service, and a long career, he retired from Purolater in Elmira Heights. His focus and joys in life were always spending time with his family, catching up with neighbors, gardening, and watching westerns.

He is survived by his son Walter "Jeffery" McNeil; stepchildren Mark Maynard, Nelda Fuller, and Terry Bliss; grandchildren Carrie, Heather, Michelle, Catherine, Kendra, Angie, Amanda, Amy, and Michael; several beloved great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends,

Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads on Friday, March 20th 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. His funeral service will be held there at 7:00 pm. Clara's nephew, Rev. James Radford officiating. Private committal and interment will be held at a later date; Walter will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery.
