Jane McComis Obituary
Jane Gail McComis, of Waverly, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She is survived by her children, Geophrey (Tina) McComis, Rachel (Jermaine) McComis-Williams, Curtis McComis Jr., James (Sally) McComis, Rebekah (Richard) Carroll; her niece, Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Ryanna, Alexandria, Esmond, Ruby, Ayden, Emily, Austin, Kyle, Katherine, and Evvie; and her great grandchild, Chloe. Jane is predeceased by her husband, Curtis McComis Sr.; her parents, Sidonie and James (Jr.) Lounsbury, and her brother, James Lounsbury.
Jane was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a dedicated friend, and a faithful servant of God.
Jane grew up in Charlestown, MA and aspired to be a star! She learned ballet at a young age and went to acting and singing school at Emerson College. However, God had other plans when she met the love of her life in a grocery store. From the moment she met Curtis, she was smitten and happy to hang up her dancing shoes to become a homemaker, a pastor’s wife, and one of the most talented song leaders in the region.
Jane and Curtis were married for thirty-eight years before Curtis went home to heaven in 2008. During their years together, Curtis pastored many churches that took them through the northeast (and Arkansas), and eventually they settled in Millport NY for twenty-four years. During these years, she was busy raising children, tending to her beautiful gardens, nurturing friendships, ministering to the woman in her life, preparing the books for the church, and supporting her husband in their church ministry. Throughout Jane’s life, she was most proud of her role as Pastor’s wife.
Most recently, Jane faithfully attended the Chemung Christian Fellowship and was involved in many Christ-led groups and initiatives within her community. She forged many friendships during these years. You would often find her singing in church, laughing with friends, or trying to figure out how to take care of those in need around her.
Jane financially supported many organizations including Greater Grace World Outreach, the Friends of Israel, Children of Africa, and many more. Although she had a flair for the dramatic, she also enjoyed giving her love, time, and energy in private and with no fan-fair. Jane was a dear soul and will be missed by many. Without a doubt, God prepared a special place for Jane in heaven where she most certainly has already received many crowns.
Jane was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
