Ronald Eugene Root

On April 2, 2026 Ronald Eugene Root set off to be with his true love, while surrounded by his children, who loved him dearly, until his last breath.

Ronald, 78, was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Rose Root, mother Evelyn Faye Root & father Ralph Lloyd Root. Ronald is survived by his sons Jonan (wife Apryl), Caylen (wife Katelyn), Gavin (wife Christina), and daughter Arika. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Josalyn, Makenna, Avelynn, Samuel, Oryana, Kaizen, Jacen, & Xander.

Ronald spent his days relaxing to his favorite classic rock music, "gardening", and spending time with his family. Ronald was a veteran of the United States Air Force with the service to his country lasting three years. He was employed with Roots Farm and Nursery, a family business and eventually retired from Northrup Supply in Horseheads.

After his service ended he came home and met Kathryn. To this day, the way they met, is still debated but the story book ending is now complete as Ronald went home to be with the woman he loved the most. At this moment it is believed that they are dancing to the Beatles, Kathryn's favorite, because as in life, Ronald did whatever he could to make his love happy. Even if it meant dancing to a boy band instead of classic rock.

Family and friends are invited to visit Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Sunday, April 5th from 6 to 8 pm. A brief service will follow at 8 pm. Private interment, with military honors, will be on Monday, April 6th in Bath National Cemetery

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a local veteran service in your area, in his name.
