Barbara Jane Shively Williams

November 26, 1935 - May 22, 2026

Barbara Jane Shively Williams was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to John and Helen Louise Shively on November 26, 1935. She graduated from Horseheads High School in 1953, after also living in Hornell, and Elmira NY. She married Keith Herbert Williams in 1954, and followed him from post to post for two years; Ft Bragg, NC, Ft Sill OK and back to Ft Bragg. After her husband's service they moved back to Newfield NY, where they raised their family. She was an avid reader, and was the Newfield Town Librarian for many years. She also worked at Newfield Central School in the capacity as Head of the Audio Visual Department for many years. She was a long-time member of Eastern Star Mystic Chapter 275 in Newfield NY, holding various posts, up to, and including Matron. She was also an active member of the Newfield United Methodist Church thoroughly enjoying her time singing in the choir, with her rich alto voice. She and Keith moved to Caribbean Isles, Apollo Beach, FL, in 1988, residing there until 2022, when they moved back north to Horseheads, NY, residing at Bethany Village. They were active members at Caribbean Isles, calling Bingo, going on canoe trips, and many cruises to the Caribbean. She was predeceased by her husband Keith, and her son Kevin John Williams. She is survived by her sister Sharon Shively Hoagland, daughters Kim (Charles) Kassel, Kathryn Williams, her son Kyle (Marnie Vaughan) Williams; grandchildren Charles (Christy) Kassel, Alexandra Kassel, and Jonathan Kassel; Nicole France (Luke) Schock, Brittany France (Joshua) Ecker; Nathan (Caroline) Williams, Zachary (Tatiana) Williams, and Matthew (Emily) Williams; and, great grandchildren Noah and Joshua Snell, Greyson and Sterling Schock, Allen Jr, and Emilyanne Hiffner, and Archer Williams. Services will be private and donations can be made to the Newfield Public Library.
