Dale Stirling Potter

Age 81 of Big Flats, NY. Dale was born August 5, 1944 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Richard and Olive I. (Buck) Potter. He passed away on June 18, 2026. In additon to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Rodney Potter.

He graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1962, Corning Community College in 1964 SUNY Cortland in 1967, and Elmira College with a Masters of Education in 1970.  He taught math and computers at the Spencer Van-Etten School District for 33 years before retiring in 1999.

Dale is survived by his wife Patricia (Patti) Potter, daughter Karolee, son Eric (Masumi), sister Mary (Richard Pensyl) Potter, grandchildren Quinnlynn Spencer, Brennan Spencer, Ellie Potter, Ema Potter, and great grandchildren Mateo Ayers and Calder Ayers.

Dale was an amazing, loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa.  He was married to Patti for 57 amazing years, and loved her from the bottom of his heart, selflessly taking care of her for so many of those years as she battled and is still battling MS.  He was the best father a person could ask for, constantly teaching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren how to live a Christian life.

Dale will be laid to rest in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Painted Post, NY.
