It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David G. Whitney Jr., who left this world on June 18, 2026, at the age of 50, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 20, 1975, in Rochester, NY, David's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, courage, and resilience.
David was the beloved son of Ruth Ann Groves and the late David G. Whitney Sr. From a young age, he was known for his infectious smile and boundless enthusiasm for life. David found joy in the simple pleasures of being outdoors, and sharing laughter and stories with family and friends.
A devoted brother, David is survived by his brothers, Richard Whitney and his wife, Laura, and Shawn Whitney and his wife, Tracey. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces, Lindsay Whitney and Hannah Hart, who brought immense joy to his life. David's heart swelled with pride for his special great-nieces and great-nephews, Austin, Emma, Amelia, Alexander, and Henry, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his family, David shared a profound love of animals. In his memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Humane Society, an organization close to David's heart.
Predeceased by his father, David G. Whitney Sr., Step Father, Wallie Groves, and Nieces, Christy and Ashley. David's legacy is one of unwavering strength and kindness. He faced his illness with remarkable courage and grace, teaching all who knew him the true meaning of resilience and hope.
David's departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, we celebrate the extraordinary life he lived and the indelible impact he made on those who loved him.
Rest in peace, dear David. Your love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will remain with us always.
