Obituary of Doris W. Miller

MILLER, Doris W. Age 98 of Horseheads was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Doris was born in Horseheads, July 15, 1916, to Frederick and Martha (Smith) Wenck. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1993; son, Gerald Miller in 2001; and brothers, Harold, Lee and Gerald Wenck. She is survived by her daughter and sons, Donna (Larry) Hubbard of Horseheads, Arnold (Donna) Miller also of Horseheads and Brian (Vicki) Miller of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Carol (Mark) Coleman, Larry (Sharri) Hubbard, Jr., Capt. Robert (Missy) Miller Ruth (Daniel) Patrick, Daniel (Jacqueline) Hubbard Susan (John) Truxell, Alison (Phon) Ly Anna Miller, Gwyn (Joshua) Fletcher; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. Doris was a life long resident of Chemung County. She was a graduate of Wellsburg High School and captain of the girls’ basketball team. She was a long time member of Horseheads First Baptist Church, an avid sewer, made quilts and wool hooked rugs. Doris was also a member of Chemung County Home Bureau. She was employed at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center working in central service. And also house cleaning for many years. Family and friends are invited to call at the First Baptist Church of Horseheads, 2293 Grand Central Avenue on Sunday, January 18 from 2 PM – 3 PM.
