Obituary of Virginia C. ""Ginnie"" Satterlee

Virginia C. Satterlee “Ginnie” Age 89 of West Broad Street, Horseheads passed away on March 27, 2015. Ginnie was born in Elmira Heights, NY to Harold and Caroline (Weik) Shafer. She will be greatly missed by her friends and her surviving family including her husband, Leland “Jack” Satterlee; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn (Jerry) Welliver of Horseheads, NY, Judy Ann (Art) Clark also of Horseheads, NY, Sylvia (Dave) White of Bernhards Bay, NY; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jim (Michele Locey) Clark, Rocky, Graydon and Rochele Locey; Amy (Mike) Klossner, Jake Klossner and Casey Klossner; Chad (Pia) Clark, and Jayden Clark; Shawna White, Marissa White; brother, Dr. Robert (Joan) Shafer of Chemung, NY; brother-in-law, Robert (Lois) Satterlee of Greeley, CO; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Gordon (Veronica) Shafer. Ginnie graduated from the Arnot Ogden School of Nursing and worked as a labor and delivery nurse prior to becoming a homemaker. She was an active member of Oakwood United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Gardening was a passion for Ginnie who loved her flowers and all natures’ beauty. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends as well as time spent at the family cottage on Lamoka Lake. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 6-8:00 pm and again on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 10:00-11:00 am where her service will be celebrated there at the funeral home at 11:00 am with burial service to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira.
