Obituary of Sally Q. Ryan

SALLY Q. RYAN April 25, 1929- September 23, 2015 Sally Ann Ryan (Quinney) passed quietly in her sleep in the arms of her family. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles T. Quinney and mother, Dolores Quinney (Crockenberg); brother, Thomas Quinney and daughter, Kathryn Kerry Ryan Sally is survived by her loving children: Maureen Irwin, Patricia Frock (Robert), Neal Ryan (Lynn), Michele Scanlin, Thomas Ryan (Kim) and Brenna Ryan plus 13 grand children and 3 great grandchildren and sister, Nancy Dominis (John). Sally graduated from Clarks Summit, Pa. High School in 1947. She attended Chestnut Hill College. One of her great accomplishments was graduating from Elmira College in 1993. She spent her life raising her children, traveling and enjoying her many friends. She attended St. Mary Our Mother Catholic Church, Horseheads, NY and was a charter member of the St. Mary Our Mother’s Church Choir. Her choir friends gave her great joy and entertainment over the years. Sally was an avid quilter and shared her beautiful quilts with her family. She had many grand adventures with her quilting friends. She took joy in watching the birds from her back porch and cursing the squirrels who raided her bird feeders. Sally was a blessing and joy to her family, her many friends and beloved neighbors. There will be no funeral service as Sally donated her body to science. She called it her “Syracuse University Scholarship”. A memorial service will be planned in the near future. In lieu of flowers or a memorial, please do something kind for a stranger.
