Obituary of Harold P. Cole
COLE, Harold P.
Age 88 of Corning and longtime resident of Big Flats, NY passed away Jan. 18, 2016.
He was born in Cuba, NY to the late Clarendon and Stella (Barnes) Cole.
Harold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Butts) Cole;
Daughters and son,
John Cole of Moretown, VT
Kate (Jeff) Sonner of Corning, NY
Sara Cole(Mark Sullivan) of Middleton, WI,
Jenny Cole of Corning, NY;
Grandchildren, Zachary (Catina) Sonner and Hannah Sonner;
Andy, Keara, and Maryclaire Sullivan.
Brother, Monroe Cole of Dansville, PA.
And nieces and nephews
Harold was also predeceased by his brother, Odge Cole.
Harold was a graduate of Cuba High School and Alfred State College. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving aboard the submarine USS Diablo during WWII. After the war he pursued his love of flying and became Chief Pilot for Corning Inc. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, traveling from Alaska throughout the continental United States and Hawaii. He was an avid skier and skied until the age of 80. Throughout his retirement he remained active in aviation and was a volunteer at the Warplane Museum. Harold also enjoyed painting and the arts. His sense of humor, curiosity of all things will be missed.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Thurs Jan 21, 2016 from 4-6:00 pm.
A celebration of the Eucharist will be celebrated in St. Matthews Episcopal Church on Friday Jan. 22 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Wanda Copeland will officiate. Burial at a later date in Cuba, NY.
