Obituary of Paul Herbert Deiseroth

DEISEROTH, Paul Herbert of Pine Valley, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away February 8, 2016, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira after a brief illness. He had achieved 87 years of age with grace, humor and patience. A native Elmiran, Paul graduated from Elmira Free Academy, served his country for four years in the United States Air Force, and began a 42 year career with the New York Telephone Company. He recently celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary to his Elmira College bride, Marilyn Deiseroth, the love of his life. Paul is survived by Marilyn and their three children, Bruce Deiseroth of Horseheads, Judy Williams Muser of Cornwall on Hudson and her husband George Muser, and son Paul Deiseroth in Arizona; two grandchildren, Bruce's daughters, Alexi Deiseroth of Horseheads and Nikki Upham and her husband Kent of Hershey, PA; their mother, Sandy Deiseroth of Big Flats; and a host of other cherished family and friends. All are left to mourn the loss of this vibrant, generous, thoughtful and fun-loving man who told great stories; was an avid reader, made excellent homemade wine, and lived life to its fullest. Paul was a lifelong hunter and fisherman and a member of "The Lakewood Sportsmen's Club" on the Southside. He was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Horseheads, a proud member of the American Legion Post 447and the BPOE Elks Club in Horseheads. Paul was pre-deceased by his parents, Agnes (Radka) and Herbert Deiseroth; and his brother, Arthur Deiseroth. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 4-6PM. Funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6PM. Interment will be held in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, at the convenience of the family.
