Obituary of C. JoAnne Lublin

LUBLIN, C. JoAnne Age 74 of Big Flats passed away unexpectedly on Mar. 2, 2016. She was born on Sept. 13, 1941 in Corning, NY, to the late Bernard and Marie (Hansen) Saunders. She was predeceased by her husband, James Lublin in 2005. They were married for over 40 years. Her surviving family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John W.W. Wood Jr. of Hockessin, DE; Son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Katrina Grabowski Lublin of Penfield, NY; Grandchildren, Jordan Isabelle Wood and Lukas Johansen Wood; Madigan Elizabeth Lublin and Samuel James Lublin; Sister, Karen (Gary) Rowe of Big Flats, NY; Brother, John (Kay) Saunders of Fredericksburg, VA; and many nieces and nephews. JoAnne was a graduate CFA in 1959 and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1962. She remained active in nursing until her recent retirement in 2015. She was also a member and Board of Director of the Alumni Association of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing and member of the National Tumor Board Association where she served as Tumor Registrar. Having lost her mother to Alzheimer’s, JoAnne and her sister, Karen, were instrumental in establishing a local support network assisting with and educating families about Alzheimer’s. JoAnne served on the Board of Directors of Friends of Woodlawn and was a member of Big Flats Red Hatters. Above all she was a family oriented woman who adored her husband, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 412 S. Main St. Horsheads on Sun. Mar. 6, 2016 from 3-6:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 am. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
