Obituary of Phoebe M. Cornell

CORNELL, Phoebe Mae Packard Tompkins Age 89 and long time resident of Millport passed away after an extended illness on Sat. May 7, 2016 at Schuyler Hospital Seneca View Nursing Facility. Phoebe was born in Horseheads July 3, 1926 to Frank E. Packard and Mabel E. Scott. She was predeceased by her first husband Robert Tompkins in 1996. Phoebe is survived by her sons, Gerald (Judy) Tompkins and Rodney (Charlene) Tompkins all of Horseheads, Sister, Pauline “Polly” Griswold of Pine Valley. Grandchildren, Karen (Thomas) Mosher of Scott AFB, IL, Rebecca (Carlos) Mendez of El Salvador, Central America; Scott Tompkins of Horseheads; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Tompkins and sister Betty Lawrence, and former spouse, Joseph Cornell. Phoebe was a photo inspector for Personius Warne Studio in Elmira for many years. She also worked as an assembler at Westinghouse and as a buyer for S.F Iszards Dept. Store. Family and friends are invited to call at Maranatha Bible Chapel 774 Sing Sing Rd. Horseheads on Thurs. May 12, 2016 from 6-7:00 pm. A service celebrating her life will take place there at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 pm Burial in Millport Cemetery at a later date.
