Obituary of Kathryn T. ""Kay"" Hall

HALL, Kathryn T. “Kay” of Hibbard Rd. Big Flats, NY, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016. She was born in Corning, NY, on May 22, 1936, to the late Oswald and Fern (Cook) Taynton. Kay is survived by her husband, Robert Hall with whom she married April 8, 1961; daughters, Susan Tolan of Matthews, NC and Sandra (Kevin) Sullivan of Rock Hill, SC; special nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and many close and caring friends. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Joseph Tolan; sisters, Barbara Corey and Shirley Pruden. Kay graduated from Campbell Central School and Rochester Business Institute. She was a secretary and stenographer having worked for Corning Inc. and in the Law Office of Kent Woloson in Big Flats. Kay was a long time devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads. She was inducted into Corning-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame in 1991, member of Corning Women’s Bowling Association and member of the Corning 600 Club. She also served as board member for Big Flats Community Days and Big Flats Cinderella Softball. She was also a member of Big Flats American Legion Auxiliary and Willow Creek Wednesday Morning Women’s Golf League Kay enjoyed special time with family, a good game of euchre, playing the piano, the links and telling a good joke. She and Bob especially enjoyed taking cruises together and visiting many places throughout the world. Family and friends are invited to call at the First United Methodist Church, 1034 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY on Thursday, June 16, 2016, from 11:00-12:00 noon. A Celebration of her life officiated by the Rev. Rhonda Kouterick will follow there at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place privately in Hope Cemetery Annex in Corning.
