Obituary of Jack L. Whitaker
WHITAKER, Jack L
Age 90 of Biltmore Dr. and formerly of Briarcliff Dr. Horseheads and Zephyrhills, FL, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sat. July 9, 2016.
Jack was born in the Town of Baldwin Feb. 12, 1926 to Roland and Mary (Drake) Whitaker.
His surviving family includes his wife of over 68 years, June (Krumloff) Whitaker;
Daughters,
Jane Winterling of Guilford, VT,
Pat (Jeff) Haskins of Breesport, NY,
Son, Jack Whitaker of Elmira, NY;
12 Grandchildren;
Sister, Sharon (John) Daniel of Horseheads;
Several Great grandchildren; 2 nephews and many cousins.
Jack was also predeceased by his daughters, Joann (Gary) Miller and Janet (Armand) Fusco, and granddaughter, Carrie Allen.
Jack was a retired customer instructor with Hardinge Inc. and a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, Adirondack Hiking Club and former member of Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouts and a Free and Accepted Masons. Jack was an avid golfer, computer enthusiast and he and June loved hosting big family gatherings at their home in Horseheads.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. July 13, 2016 from 1-3:00 pm and again from 5-6:00 pm. His service will follow there at the funeral home at 6:00 pm.
Private graveside service will take place in North Chemung Cemetery.
