Obituary of Donald R. Wood

WOOD, Donald R. Age 86 and long time resident of South Center Street in Horseheads passed away Sat. Sept.17, 2016. He was born in Gillett, PA, March 16, 1930 to Rubin and Gertrude (Wright) Wood. Don was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Rossi) Wood on May 5, 2012. He is survived by sons and daughters, Michael (Mary) Wood of Candor, NY, Nanette Wood of Millport, NY, Donna (Michael Benjamin) Tangorre of Elmira, NY, Laurie (Jerry) Blaasch of Horseheads, NY, Donald (Melissa) Wood of Elmira, NY and Christina (Jeffrey) Crum also of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher, Hillary, Elizabeth, Ashley, Jeremy and Miranda; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Conner, Jacob and Kourtney; aunt, Rose Campanelli of Elmira, NY. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his siblings, William Wood, Lucille Bevelacqua, and Florence Patelunas. Don was a devoted family man and die-hard NY Yankee fan. He was a longtime employee of Robinson Lumber and proud of his 48 years of sobriety and involvement in AA. Don was also a veteran of the US Army Air force. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Tuesday Sept. 20, 2016 from 4-7:00 pm. His service will take place on Wed.
