Obituary of Margaret “Peggy” D. (Bartkowski) Estes

Estes, Margaret D. (Bartkowski) “Peggy” Age 81 of Elmira and formerly of Lowman passed peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was born June 25, 1935, to Walter and Margaret (Soper) Bartkowski. In addition to her parents, Peggy was also predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Estes, in 1997; and sister, Donna Mashanic, in 2004. Peggy is survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Tony) Sgro of Elmira and Gloria (William) Wright of Lawrenceville, PA; brother, Ray (Georgette) Bartkowski of Elmira, NY; cousin and caregiver, Gail Bartkowski; brother-in-law, Leon (Betty) Estes of Horseheads, NY; beloved nieces and nephews, Margaret (Jack) Marks of Horseheads, NY, Kim (Jim) Marks of Elmira, Beth Fleming of Horseheads, NY; great nieces and nephews, Jackie (Bruce) Hauver and Peter Marks all of Elmira, NY, Kristi Fleming of Allentown PA; Carissa Fleming of Elmira NY; great grand nieces, Maxine Hauver and Raedyn Fleming; extended family and friends including, Michael, Theresa, Laura and Marshal Mingos all of Elmira. After high school she worked in manufacturing in Elmira and spent the remaining of her working days at D & S Electronics Glass in Elmira Heights, NY. She was a volunteer for CVAC (RSVP) of Elmira for 18 years. Also daily birthday calls to the many volunteers was a favorite of hers. She had a love and talent for crafts which filled her own home as well as those of family and friends. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc. 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Saturday, November 12, 2016, from 11-1:00PM. Her service will follow at 1:00PM with graveside service to follow in Pine Valley Cemetery.
