Obituary of Richard L. ""Rich"" Fluman
FLUMAN, Richard L.
Age 54 of Aberdeen Rd., Horseheads passed away after a long fight surrounded by his family on Friday, February 10, 2017. Rich was born August 14, 1962, to Richard H. Fluman and Sandra (Wieder) Stranzl.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Abby (Houck) Fluman; daughter and son, Kara at home and Zachary of Buffalo; mother, Sandy Stranzl; and father, Richard Fluman both of Horseheads; sisters, Jolene (Jeff) Simmons of Ithaca, Terri (Jeff) Standish of Breesport, Lisa (Geoff) Hartigan of Horseheads and Linda (Dave) Friebis of Elmira Heights; many nieces and nephews; in-laws; co workers; and close and caring friends. Rich was a graduate of Horseheads High School class of 1980 and SUNY Oneonta in 1990. In his early working career, Rich was employed at Chemung Electronics in Elmira. After graduating from college, he entered his career as a salesman with Empire Merchants North, formerly Service Universal of Rochester, NY. His success there met him many friends as well as travel opportunities, including a visit to Scotland. He was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Above all else, Rich was a kind hearted man, a true friend to many and a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and son. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 3-5:00 and 7-9:00 pm. His service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00 am. Burial service will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
