Obituary of Mary Louise ""Lu"" Laverty

LAVERTY, Mary Louise “Lu” Age 75 of Horseheads, NY and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at home in Appleridge, Horseheads. Lu was born December 27, 1941, in Paterson, NJ, to James and Eloise (Coburn) Lowe. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Laverty, November 1, 2014. Lu is survived by her daughter, Denise (Kirk) Allen of Elmira, NY; son, Brian (Tara) Laverty of Herndon, VA; and grandchildren, Leo and Anne Laverty also of Herndon, VA. Lu was a graduate of Ohio University with a BA in Fine Arts. She excelled in paint and canvas. Lu was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She also attended the First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads. A memorial service will be held in the First Presbyterian Church, 2943 Westinghouse Rd, Horseheads on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00AM. Graveside service will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.
