To Sweet Bonnie's Family,
It's not many of us who can say that have personally known an angel on earth, but I can attest to that as it relates to your beloved Bonnie. I first met her almost 35 years ago when my daughter was born with congenital heart disease. She was my husband's and my first contact who reached out to us from the world of pediatric cardiology to assist Dr. Finnerty in making arrangements to transport our baby to Strong Memorial Hospital for her first heart surgery.
Bonnie was the kind and gracious voice on the phone whenever I phoned Dr. Finnerty's office who continually offered me assurances that everything would be okay. She was also the one with the smiling face and dancing eyes who would greet us at Dr. Finnerty's office with hugs and optimism. Not only did she provide my daughter with outstanding nursing care throughout the years, but she also had a sincere and loving concern for her, always interested in her education, musical endeavors, engagement and marriage, and lovingly welcomed into the world my daughter's and son-in-law's baby daughter. Bonnie thought of her patients and cared for them in the same fashion as she cared for her own children and grandchildren.
I miss you already, Bonnie, and I thank you forever and always providing me with your sincere friendship and your continual gift of hope to me and my family -- there is no gift greater than that. And although earth has lost an angel, heaven is rejoicing that they have gained an amazing one in you. Please shine down on us from time-to-time. Believe me, we will know it's you.
