Obituary of Rodney Roe

ROE, Rodney M. Age 75 of E. Sullivanville Rd. Horseheads passed away after a brief illness on Fri. May 26, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Rod was born in Elmira, NY, to Clarence and Minerva (Miller) Roe. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Nancy (Bale) Roe;Sons and daughter, Matthew Roe of Canandaigua, NY, Wesley (Amber) Roe of Horseheads, NY, Melinda (Matthew) Howard of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren,William Roe, Katherine and Mia Howard; Brother, Joe Jago; extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Roe, brother, Frank Jago, and foster sister, Hazel Cratsley. Rod was a longtime Dairy Farmer of Sullivanville. He was also a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Rod was retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility having taught ornamental horticulture and elementary education. Rod was also a Code Enforcement Officer working for several local townships. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads, NY on Tues. May 30, 2017 from 12:00 noon-2:00 pm and again from 4-6:00 pm. His service will be celebrated at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 pm.
