Obituary of Curtis E. Rumsey, Jr.

RUMSEY, Curtis E., Jr. Age 63, his final song played on Monday, June 12, 2017. Curt was born October 14, 1953 to Curtis Rumsey and Doris Guiles Berlin. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Wilson) Rumsey; daughter and sons, Candy (Tom) Diberardino of Melbourne, FL, Rob Rumsey of Los Angeles, CA, Michael (Miriam Weinstein) Rumsey of Baltimore, MD, C.J. Rumsey of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Tanner and Kennedy Diberardino; Ava and Gideon Rumsey; Pat’s daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Ferraro; former spouse, Cindy Rumsey; sister, Sharon (Gary) Pierce of Hammondsport, NY; several extended family members; and a host of caring friends. In addition to his parents, Curt was also predeceased by his step-father, Earl Berlin; and brother-in-law, Thomas Hakes. Curt was retired from Olean Wholesale as Senior Buyer. He enjoyed good times with family and friends, great times at the Domes Athletic Center coaching and playing ice hockey with his sons. He was also an avid Elmira College Booster Club member, avid concertgoer and lover of the lake region including Watkins Glen International. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 4-6:00 pm. A celebration of his life with Curt’s favorite music and stories will take place also on Friday from 6:30– 8:30 pm at Tags, 3037 Rt. 352, Big Flats, NY 14814. Be prepared to bring a story with you.
