Charlene Spencer Hopkins posted a condolence

My condolences to the family of Nancy Smart. Nancy's husband, Frank, and my father, Monte Spencer, first met around 1957 when they worked together at the Westinghouse Electric Corp. They quickly became best friends. Our families ""hit it off"", so to speak, and we did a lot of things together. I fondly remember our first picnic together at Watkins Glen Park. When I met Nancy, she was the mother of two children: Angela and Brian. Angela was the matron of honor in my wedding in 1968. When their daughter Linda was born, Frank used to joke that she became a citizen of the United States by being born here before he received his citizenship papers. Our families had many, many good times together when the Smart family lived in the Horseheads area and even after they moved to Bath. Nancy was a very elegant, soft spoken woman with a great sense of humor, and she shared many of her cooking tips with my Mom. The stories she told about her life when she lived in England were always very interesting.
