Obituary of Stanley R. Bush

BUSH, Stanley R. Age 82 of Miller St. Horseheads and formerly a longtime resident of Cayuta, passed away Aug. 3, 2017. Stanley was born to the late to Ralph S. and Ruth (Beardslee) Bush on March 13, 1935 in Elmira, NY. Stan spend much of his adult life in Horseheads. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Minier) Bush on Dec. 13, 2009 and daughter, Betsy Jansen. His family includes his daughters, Kathy Spencer, Jennifer Bush, Amy (Abdel Mallouk) Bush all of Horseheads, NY; son-in-law, Michael Jansen of Coshocton, OH; grandchildren, Christopher Jansen, Gretchen Spencer, Jaron Bush, Rebecca Bush and Adam Mallouk; brother, David (Marty) Bush of Salisbury, MD; several nieces, nephews, and many extended family members. Stan retired from IBM in Elmira and Endicott as a Program Support Rep. and later a Field Engineer. Stan was also involved in public service in the Horseheads/Town of Veteran area. He served as Town Supervisor for Town of Veteran from 1972-1978 and as a County Legislator from 1979-1990. He was a member of Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297 and Horseheads Snowmobile Club. Stan enjoyed Country music, Bluegrass music and playing the guitar. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Tues. Aug. 8, 2017 from 3-5:00pm. A time of food, drinks and stories will immediately follow at the conclusion of calling hours at the Hickory House Restaurant, 3543 Watkins Rd., Horseheads, NY 14845.
