SHIH, Chung Hsin “Shir”
Age 84 of Elmira Heights NY passed away on Fri. Aug. 4, 2017.
He is survived by his wife Fannie (Chreptak) Shih whom he married May 8, 1971;
Son and daughter-in-law, Duane (Debbie) Clark; 3 Sisters; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary (Glen) Bailey of Troy, PA, Steve (Kay) Chreptak of Tampa, FL, Rose Chreptak of Horseheads, NY, Eva (Jerry) Hawthorne of Granville Summit, PA, Cathy Wilson of Athens, PA, Anne Parker of Elizabethton, TN, Pauline (Tom) Whipple of Horseheads, NY, Pat (Dave) Wright of Canton, PA, Paul Chreptak of Elmira, NY,
Sue Woodard of Sayre, PA; Many nieces, nephews and friends including niece, Catherine “LinLin” Chang, his friend Ming in Taiwan and Anisa in Horseheads and close friends and neighbors, the Eichenlaub family. Earlier in his career he worked in Turkey at the US Embassy. He was born in China and raised in South Korea. Shir was also a longtime member of Oakwood United Methodist Church. Chung was a volunteer at Arnot Ogden Medical Center and a longtime server at Pierce’s 1894 Restaurant in Elmira Heights. He enjoyed a good game of Ping Pong and Hackie Sack. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Thurs Aug. 10, 2017 from 3-5:00 pm. His service will follow at 5:00 pm.
