Obituary of Paul R. “Dick” Zeigler

ZEIGLER, Paul R. “Dick” Age 88 of Pheasant Hill in Horseheads passed away Sat. Aug. 5, 2017 with his family by his side. Dick was born in Horseheads on April 13, 1929 to Paul F. and Delphine L. (Manuel) Zeigler. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Barbara (Hart) Zeigler; Daughter and son, Barbara (Douglas) DeLuca of Park City, UT, Paul (Jackie) Zeigler of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren, Jason (Marissa) Zeigler, Jessica (Rogan) Parker, Benjamin (Brittney) Kelley, Jennifer (Sammy) Peppers, Kecia Kelley; Great grandchildren, Jakob Zeigler, Nova Anne Parker and Taye Peppers; Brothers, Raymond (Glenna) Zeigler and Donald (Jan) Zeigler all of Horseheads, NY; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, former and present employees, lifelong friends and patrons. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Zeigler. Dick graduated from Horseheads High School in 1948 and Tommy Bright School of Design in Chicago, IL in 1949. He began Zeigler Florists with his father in 1947. The family business just celebrated its 70th anniversary. He loved spending time at their cottage, “Auf Wiedersehen” on Keuka Lake. Dick and Barb entertained many family and friends there. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 F. & A.M. and Retired Lions Club. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Sunday Aug. 13, 2017 from 11:00-1:00 pm and again from 3-4:00 pm with his service to follow at 4:00 pm.
