Obituary of Margaret E. Sadler

SADLER, Margaret E. Age 94 and longtime resident of Breesport passed away Fri Aug. 18, 2017. She was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Hailsham, England to James and Zoe (Buss) Newton. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 1980. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Yvonne Sadler of Breesport, NY; Grandson, Aaron (Jessica) Sadler also of Breesport, NY; Granddaughter, Michelle (Alexey) Sadler of Lansing, NY; Great grandsons, Robert and Ryan Sadler; Sister, Pearl Beal of England. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Joan Wilson. She was a member of Breesport Methodist Church. In England she was drafted into the Royal Nursing Corps at the age of 17. She started her nursing career in London Hospitals during the London Blitz in 1940 and later she was assigned to the Military Hospital in Winchester. While in Winchester she met an America Army Lieutenant, Albert Sadler recovering there. She immigrated to the US and married Albert in 1948. She became a naturalized citizen in February of 1953. Margaret worked for many years at Remington Rand. She assisted her husband in the operation of The Breesport Sand and Gravel for many years and spent 30 years as a home health aide, retiring at the age of 85. She was also active in D.A.V. Margaret was blessed with excellent style in quality clothing. She loved gardening and caring for her family and animals. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Mon, Aug. 21, 2017 from 3-6:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm. with grave side service to follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Breesport.
