Obituary of Patricia L. “Patty” Haskins
HASKINS, Patricia L. “Patty”Age 59 of Breesport passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2017.
Patty was born on St. Patrick's Day; March 17, 1958, in Elmira, to Jack and June (Krumloff) Whitaker. In 1976, Patty graduated from Horseheads High School. Although she went to high school with Jeffrey Haskins, they did not find love until the County Fair in 1976. In September 2, 1978, she married Jeff and had two sons. Patty enjoyed people. She received her LPN license from BOCES and worked most of her life taking care of the developmentally challenged. She took great pride in her work and the people she cared for. She adored her special relationships with her co-workers and friends. Patty was devoted to Jeff. They always walked side by side, holding hands, smiling and laughing. Jeff was her world and the love she had for him was remarkable. Patty cherished her relationships with her sons, Matt and Ben. If Patty was relaxing, you would find her curled up with a great book or knitting a new scarf or blanket or sewing a quilt. She enjoyed getting up early to hit the rummage sales with her family, her aunt, her mom and her sisters. She always had someone special with her while she searched for unique treasures or great deals. Patty also liked shopping for shoes, clothes and jewelry. Anything that was beautiful she set her eyes on. Patty had an infectious laugh and gorgeous smile. She could light up a room for those who cherished her presence. She was adventurous and loved the outdoors. Most of her outdoor activities were shared with Jeff and her sons or her close friends and family. She enjoyed bike riding, camping, cross country skiing, walking and exploring. She loved her animals and always spoiled them with tasty treats and lots of hugs and kisses. Over the last ten years, Patty and Jeff would vacation in Maine to spend time with their oldest son, Matt and their only grandchild, Tyler. She loved visiting the ocean and lighthouses, but nothing was more special then her time spent with Tyler. Their relationship was one of a kind. In the past year, Patty spent a lot of time with her mother, June. She loved being there for her mom and was extremely happy to be around her. Every day, Patty took her dog, Buddy to the creek while her and Jeff watched him splash and play. She was a wonderful co-worker, an amazing friend, a loving mother and a devoted wife. Patty may have left us too soon, but her imprint on our lives is permanent and will remain in our hearts forever. Patty was predeceased by her father, Jack Whitaker, her sisters Joanne Miller and Janet Fusco. Surviving are her mother, June Whitaker of Horseheads; her husband Jeffrey Haskins of Breesport, her oldest son, Matthew Haskins and girlfriend Danielle Dame of Maine; her son, Benjamin Haskins of Breesport, her only grandson, Tyler Haskins of Maine. She is also survived by her brother, Jack “Tim” Whitaker Jr. of Horseheads; sister Jane Winterling of Vermont; her Aunt Sharon and husband John Daniels of Horseheads; numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved fur baby, Buddy. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Fri. Aug. 25, 2017 from 3-5:00 pm.
