Obituary of Richard H. Carrier
CARRIER, Richard H.
Age 88 of Horseheads passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Jane (Russell) Carrier, in 2009. He is survived by his wife of nearly seven years, Mary (Clark) Carrier; daughters and son, Susan (Raymond) Prestia of Wake Forrest, NC, Karen (Douglas) Doolittle of Sierra Vista, AZ, Pamela Mason of Martinsville, VA, and Thomas (Kathleen) Carrier of Horseheads, NY; stepson, Trevor Johnson of Horseheads, NY; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Floyd and Carrie (Greenough) Carrier; and wife, Jane; Dick was also predeceased by his grandson, Thomas Carrier, Jr.; and his siblings, June Taylor, Wilma Carleton, Emily White and Alan Carrier. Dick was a longtime resident of Fletcher St. in Horseheads, Ocala, FL and recently Old Ithaca Rd. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Horseheads, retired from the United States Marine Corps and member of the Edward J. Brewer Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He was retired from the US Postal Service and member of the Horseheads Elks, Horseheads Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Elmira Heights American Legion; and for many years he was the Horseheads Alumni Treasurer and Editor of the Association Newsletter. Family and friends are invited to call at the First United Methodist Church, 1034 W. Broad St., Horseheads on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 10:30 – 11:00 am where his service will follow at 11:00 am. Military Honors will follow services in church.
