Obituary of James Bowman

BOWMAN, James H. Age 79 of Odessa passed away after a brief illness on Sat. Nov. 4, 2017. Jim was born in Elmira, NY on May 19, 1938 to Harold and Edna (Goodwin) Bowman. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Ketchem) Bowman; Sons and daughters, Laurie (Rick) Bowman-Gibson of Woodville, AL, Betsy Bowman of Tarpon Springs, FL, Dana (Raymond) Maciewicz of Marcy, NY, Donald (Susan) Oldroyd of Danielson, CT, David (Susie) Oldroyd of Waverly, NY; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; Jim is also survived by his brother and sister, Becky (Jim) Steiner, David (Loy) Bowman, and sister-in-law, Linda Bowman all of North Chemung. Jim was a retired second-shift Foreman with Kennedy Valve in Elmira. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his infant twin boys, James Harold Jr. and Charles Bowman. He was a veteran of the US Air force and member and past commander of Odessa American Legion. He was also a member of the Schuyler Co Honor Guard, Jim was a member of North Chemung United Methodist Church and Breesport Lodge F. & A.M. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 So. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. Nov. 8, 2017 from 1-3:00 pm and again from 5-7:00 pm. His service will be celebrated there at the funeral Home on Thurs at 11:00 am with burial service with military honors to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
