Obituary of Richard L. Wood Sr. ""Woody""

WOOD, Richard L. Sr. “Woody” Age 68 of Woodview Dr. Horseheads passed away Dec. 29, 2017 after a long battle with complications relating to his military service to his country. Dick was born in Elmira to the late, Albert and Thelma (Francis) Wood Sr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eunice (Mansfield) Wood whom he married Aug. 30, 1969. Also surviving are their daughter and son, Richard (Tina) Wood of Elmira, Jennifer ( Harold) Reynolds of Statesville, NC; Mother, Thelma Wood of Horseheads; Grandchildren, Colton Wood, Austin Merrit, Christiana Reynolds and Julius Reynolds; Siblings Albert “Butch” (Kathy) Wood of Breesport, David Wood also of Breesport, Frank Wood of Oregon, Robert (Terry) Wood, and John (Penny) all of Erin, Ernie (Eve) Wood of SC and Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Woody was a long time employee of Knispel Construction and Tom Coon Plumbing and Heating in Elmira. He was proud Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and both a Bronze Star and 2-time Purple Heart recipient. Dick was a member of Elmira Heights American Legion, Breesport Fire Department and an avid outdoorsman and hunter and also a lover of his Corvettes. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. Jan 3, 2018 from 1-3:00 and again from 5-7:00 pm.
