Obituary of Esther M. Raker

RAKER, Esther M (Yoder) of Horseheads Passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2018 with her family by her side. Esther was born in Liberty, PA June 29, 1925 to Ernest and Ruth (Mase) Yoder. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Keith Raker on February 24, 2012 and recently her son-in-law, Robert LaCorazza. Esther was also predeceased by her brother, Charles Yoder and sister, Mary Rogers. She is survived by four daughters, Linda (Edward) Moonschein of Horseheads, NY, Patricia (Richard) Earing of Williamsville, NY, Judi (Bill) Driscoll of Horseheads and Lori LaCorazza of Horseheads; five grandchildren, Dylan (Janis) Jones, Eric Jones, Denise Moonschein, Travis Moonschein and Alicia LaCorazza; three great grandchildren, Andrea and Andrew Jones and Trisha Benjamin; along with many close and caring friends, including Esther’s “fifth daughter” Dolly Bixby and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her brothers, Leslie Ray (Joan) Yoder of Arnot, PA, Arnold (Jane) Yoder of Wellsboro, PA; and sisters, Eleanor (James) Hamilton Wellsboro, PA, Beverly (Lawrence) Mase. Esther retired from LRC Electronics after several years of employment. In her earlier years she owned and operated Junior Village Clothing. She was a member of Horseheads First United Methodist Church. Her life revolved around family. Esther also enjoyed sewing and baking; she travelled most of the United States with her husband. Esther lived at Bethany Retirement home in her final years where she made many friends and enjoyed her life there. Her love of family was very evident and her wonderful smile was always present. Family and friends are invited to Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads, NY on Sat. Jan 27, 2018 from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. Her funeral service will follow calling hours at 2:00 pm. Graveside service will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice
