Obituary of Emmett J. Courtright

Emmett Jay Courtright age 65 of Horseheads, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cayuga Medical Center of Ithaca, NY. He was born August 4, 1952 in Elmira, NY to the late Francis E. and Wanda L. (Stanton) Courtright. He is survived by his wife, Kay (Nichols) Courtright; daughter, Melissa (Gordon) Murray of Milford, CT; son, Darren (Angela) Courtright of Binghamton, NY; grandchildren, Connor, Gillian, and Cameron Murray; godson, Christopher Hammond of Erin, NY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen Walle, Howard (Paula) Nichols, Sharon (Jim) Nichols and Penny (John) Nichols all of Erin, NY; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members and many friends. Emmett was also predeceased by his sister, Sheila Courtright, nephew, Jeremy Heath, and sister-in-law, Lynette Collins. Emmett was employed as a rural carrier with the US Postal Service in Ithaca, NY, a NRLCA member and union steward, and a former proprietor of Casablanca in Horseheads, NY. Emmett was an avid golfer, having been raised at Francourt Farms Golf Course (now Soaring Eagles Golf Course). He enjoyed spending time with family and at his pool. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads NY on Friday Feb. 2, 2018 from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 pm. His service will take place there on Saturday at 10:00 am with his neighbor and friend, Minister Scott Shaw officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
