Obituary of Donna L. Mickel

MICKEL, Donna L. Age 82. She was born November 9, 1935 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Eugene “Beanie” and Alma (Durham) Campbell and went home to the Lord on March 11, 2018. In addition to her parents Donna is preceded in death by her brothers, Weldon and Edgar. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ernest Mickel; children Cindy (John) Jackson and Dolly (Forrest) Vanderpool; step children Jeff (Denise) Mickel and Norma Krider, grandchildren Brian Weed and Jason Campbell; several beloved great-grandchildren; brother Dean (Jeanie) Campbell; sister Alice Stoll, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Donna is remembered for her caring, compassionate nature. She had ‘a smile that could melt you’; she’d pick you up when you were down. Always a backbone of family get-togethers, Donna also enjoyed using her talents to create one of a kind gifts for family and friends. As a skilled seamstress and carpenter, she made dresses, recreated favorite items, as well as building toyboxes, cabinetry, and furniture, to name a few. Her pride and joy was creating something that was unique. She loved to spend time in the outdoors, camping or travelling. They never took the same route on trips to North Carolina; always exploring. Donna’s family will be announcing a celebration of her life in the near future.
