Obituary of Garth Paddock
Garth Paddock
Age 85, of Horseheads passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Corning, NY. He was born August 12, 1932 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Hartzell and Louise (Churchill) Paddock. In addition to his parents, Garth was predeceased by his brother William.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Paddock; daughters Jeanne Pease of Horseheads and Julie Paddock of Syracuse; grandchildren Jennifer (Charles) Scheetz, Sarah (Tony) Fuda, Richard, Robert, Matthew, and Timothy Pinkowski; great grandchildren Ian and Colin Scheetz, and Steven Pinkowski, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Garth is remembered as a family man who was tough but always kind. Retiring from Chevron Oil, he was also one of the original Lantern Boys with the Breesport Fire Department. He would go on to become Assistant Chief at Breesport F.D., then Assistant Chief with the Big Flats Fire Department. Compared to his wife he was a homebody; however, together they enjoyed travelling, camping, and taking cruises. Some of that travel was a result of 12 years that Garth served as President for the Upstate New York Chapter of Chevron Retirees. Doris served as Secretary alongside him during this time
