I met John in 1979 breaking in as a young Train Dispatcher and worked with him for a number of years at Hornell, NY, and later from Bethlehem PA, where I was promoted to night Chief on the good word John put in for me. He taught me most of what I knew about the job, and even more about how to succeed. He was my friend and mentor and we stayed in touch most of the rest of his life. I'll miss him, his stories, his humor, and his advice. He was one of a kind.
