Cody, Laurel K. age 63, of Horseheads, NY was called Home to her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2018. Laurel passed away unexpectedly at Arnot Ogden Medical Center as the result of complications experienced after recent surgery. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Charles H. Cody; along with her older brothers Keith (Vi) Kilpatrick, Sim (Cindy) Kilpatrick, her older sisters Judith (Joe) Palko, Bonnie (Ken) Wood, her younger brother, Steve (Lynn) Kilpatrick, and her younger sister Nan (Gary) Walsh. Kilpatrick, and her two nephews Seth and Stevie Kilpatrick. Laurel was an active member of the Big Flats Wesleyan Church for over 43 years. She was a CYC (Christian Youth Crusaders) leader, attendant in the nursery, taught Sunday School and assisted with custodial work in the church. Her passion and heart were devoted to children, not only in the ministries at church, but she also provided child care for local families. She was known as a mighty prayer warrior, faithful friend, loved to laugh, and often displayed quick wit with her retorts. She loved all her pets and treated them as her own children. She enjoyed camping at the Lighthouse Christian Camp, where she and Chuck took annual vacations. She loved her family with a fierce devotion. She was truly the “Card Queen”- she never missed a birthday, anniversary or even a baby shower. Her pumpkin chocolate cookies were the best- they were a family favorite. Family and friends will be received at Big Flats Wesleyan Church (The Bridge) on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1-3pm with memorial service to follow at 3pm. Donations can be sent to The Bridge (Big Flats) Wesleyan Church, designated to the Children’s Ministry in memory of Laurel Cody at 561 Maple St, Big Flats, NY 14814.
