Obituary of Michael ""Mickey"" G. Carrigan

Carrigan, Michael G. “Mickey” Age 69, of Horseheads. He was born April 28, 1948 in Montour Falls, NY. the son of the late Gerald and Josephine (Brown) Carrigan and passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018. In addition to his parents, Mickey was predeceased by his nephew, Brennen Love. He is survived by his loving wife: Mary Mahon Carrigan; his daughter Michele (Brooke) Hoover; brother Samuel (Dena) Carrigan; sister Kathy (Tom) Love; his dear nephews Kyle (Stephanie) Carrigan, Dale (Haley) Carrigan, Sean (Chelsea) Love, and TJ Love; father and mother in law Donald (Mary) Mahon; step children Ellen (Tyler) Kent, Braxton (Suzette) Hill, and Jordan Hill; sister in law, Elizabeth (Gregory) Behm; along with a host of cousins, extended family, and many dear friends, including his canine companion Winston. He served in the Army during the Vietnam war from 1969 to 1971. Upon his return home, he went back to work as he always did; he retired from P&C where he worked as a Meat Cutter. Mickey will be remembered for his generosity and hardworking nature; those traits were evident to all throughout his life. He was an easy-going man that had quick humor and brilliant sarcasm. He could time a joke with expertise, enjoyed playing pickle ball, softball, and euchre. As a car aficionado, Mickey greatly enjoyed attending car shows and spending time tinkering and working on his own automobiles. His Trans Am is well known to friends and family. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, on Tuesday, April 17 from 3 pm to 5 pm Mickey’s funeral service will immediately follow there at 5 pm. Rev Scott Wolf officiating. Committal and interment will be held privately in Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan.
