Obituary of Bonnie Fenton
Bonnie Arnold Fenton,
Age 77, of Horseheads, passed away at home on Monday, April 16, of dementia-related causes. She was born in Burdett, NY, on March 14, 1941, the daughter of the late Clyde and Alma Arnold. She was predeceased in January 2012 by her husband of 52 years, William E. Fenton. She was also predeceased by sister Sharon Gibson and brother Bruce Arnold. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sonja and Michael Keller, and grandchildren Hannah, Alexander and Noah Keller. The family is currently stationed in Duesseldorf, Germany. Bonnie is also survived by two brothers, Gary Arnold and Terry Arnold, both of Horseheads, a sister-in-law, Ann Hawken of Florida, as well as twelve nieces and nephews. Bonnie spent many happy years as a teacher’s aide at Sing Sing Road School. She enjoyed working with the children, and felt particularly blessed because in her work as an aide in the resource room, she worked with many students over a span of several years and got to see them grow. She was an enthusiastic crafter and liked to give handmade Christmas ornaments to her students each year. Bonnie was active in a variety of ministries at the Community Wesleyan Church in Horseheads. She led women’s Bible studies, was a director of Wesleyan Women ministry, and participated in the Senior Adult ministry. She worked with children as a Sunday School teacher and VBS helper. She was known for her gifts as a helper and as a caring person. Following her husband’s passing and her diagnosis of dementia, Bonnie moved to Appleridge Senior Living, Horseheads. Her family is deeply and sincerely thankful that she was able to live in her own apartment there while receiving compassionate and attentive care by the kind staff of Community Home Care of Bethany. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads, on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A celebration of her life will follow there at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:30 am., graveside services will follow in Hector Union Cemetery, Burdett.
