Obituary of Bob Chapman

CHAPMAN, Robert G. Age 90 of Tifft Ave. Horseheads passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tues. Aug. 21, 2018. Bob was born was born Oct. 23, 1927 to Glenn H. Chapman and Eva Struble Chapman Croxton. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn (Dunn ) Chapman; Sons and daughters, Robert E. (Debbie Cirulli)Chapman of Gainesville, FL, Michael D. (Pamela Hodge) Chapman of Gasport, NY, Sally (Chris) Whitson of Horseheads, NY, and Polly (Henri) Vichier-Guerre, Warrenton, VA; Grandchildren, Heather (Tony) Sauls, Shae (Jason) Owens, Danielle Chapman, Kimberley (Matthew) Wiley, Mathieu Vichier-Guerre; Great Grandchildren, Emmi and Joseph Sauls, Ava and Millie Owens and Nolan R Chapman; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was also Predeceased by his sisters Helen, Dorothy and Marjorie. Bob was a lifelong Horseheads resident. In addition to co-owning and operating Bob & John’s Body Shop, he was active in Horseheads Municipal Government for 38 years; serving as Village Trustee from 1968-1974, Village Mayor from 1974-1988, and Horseheads Town Supervisor from 1988-2003. Bob and Marilyn were members of the Horseheads Snowmobile Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads. Bob was also a member of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge # 364 F. & A.M. for over 66 years. He was also a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the American Legion Bentley-Trumble Post #442 in Horseheads. Bob and Marilyn also enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Limekiln Lake in Inlet, NY in the Adirondack Mountains and camping in Myrtle Beach SC. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads, Today, Thursday Aug. 23rd 2018 from 4-6:00 pm. His service will follow there at 6:00 pm.
