Obituary of Ann W. Ponzi
PONZI, Ann W.
Age 75 of Horseheads, NY and Hideaway Beach, Marco Island, FL. Ann was born July 16, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Roger and Priscilla (Chandler) Wolcott. In addition to her parents Ann is also predeceased by her sister Catherine Hunter of OH. Ann is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Philip Ponzi; children Carol Tarby of Fishkill, NY, Paul (Dawn Marie) Ponzi of Wilkes Barre, PA, and Joan (Michael) Boring of Odessa, NY; grandchildren Matthew Tarby, Tiffany Ponzi, Kayleigh Ponzi, Andrew Leljedal, Ryan (Stephanie) Leljedal, Alexander (Sydney) Leljedal, Monica Leljedal and Michael Leljedal; great grandchildren Jasmine Leljedal Boring and Emerson Leljedal; sister Margaret (Elliot) Riviere of Scottsdale Arizona.; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann is also survived by husband Phil’s siblings; Delores DeMott, Josephine (Felix, deceased brother)DeMott, Louis (Betty) DeMott, Thomas (Laura) DeMott, M. Jane (Neil) DeMott Dale, Anne DeMott, Michael (Martha) DeMott, and Richard (Bille Sue) DeMott. Ann was an active communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads and San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island, FL. She was member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Prayer Group. Ann was a devoted homemaker; she worked as a teacher and a Licensed Realtor earlier in her career. Together with her husband, they were members of Island Country Club of Marco Island and Corning Country Club. Ann spent her life quietly giving her time to help others; whether it was organizing support groups to assist her good friend who had MS, helping a young woman and her child find a home, “patterning” those with limited physical mobility, or mentoring children to pursue a college education to help them break the cycle of poverty. Family and friends are invited visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. in Horseheads on Thursday October 11th 2018 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10 am at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 W. Broad St. Horseheads. Committal and Interment will follow in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery.
