Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Carbaugh

Carbaugh, Elizabeth Ann Age 84, of Horseheads, passed away peacefully at Elcor Nursing Home on Thursday, November 1, 2018 after an extended illness. Betty was born on January 23, 1934 in Sayre, PA to the late John and Eleanor (VanSkiver) Driscoll. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arnold Carbaugh. In addition, Betty is survived by her daughters and son: Carole (Kenneth) Tota of Alpine; Deborah Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN; Linda (Keith) Wrobel of Plymouth, MN; and Arnold (Ann) Carbaugh of Horseheads. Betty also leaves behind her sister, Joan Terry of Horseheads, and brother, Paul Driscoll of Whitney Point, as well as her grandchildren Alison (Jody) Rogish of Richmond, VA; Sarah (Ben) White of Newfield, NY; James (Carly) Nelson of Belle Plaine, MN; Alison (Philip) Chabot of Richfield, MN; Arnold Carbaugh III of Alpine and Amanda Carbaugh of Trumansburg. Betty will also be missed by her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Tyler and Sadie Rogish; Riley, Madigan and Samantha White; and Alexander and Caleb Nelson. She is predeceased by her grandson, Ryan Scherer, son-in-law, Christopher Nelson, and brother, John (Jack) Driscoll. Forty-two years ago, Betty and Arnold founded Carbaugh Tool Company, a family-focused business known for its commitment to customer service, support of the community, and collection of exotic birds. Prior to Carbaugh Tool, Betty was employed as an LPN in Horseheads. She enjoyed cruising, visiting Walt Disney World, and spending time at the beach with her family. She especially loved the challenge of a difficult crossword puzzle. Betty’s family is grateful for the care and support provided by the staff at Elcor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association located at 3005 Watkins Road, Horseheads, NY 14845 or www.alz.org. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, November 5, between 4-7 pm. A private burial service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa at a later date.
