Obituary of Emery Earl Hough
Emery “Em” Earl Hough
Age 92, of Carpenter Road, Waneta Lake and formerly a long time resident of Olcott Road, Big Flats and Mt. Zoar in Elmira, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. He was born March 8, 1926 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Alva L. and Marie (Andrews) Hough. In addition to his parents, Em was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Betty Elaine (Hutchinson) Hough in 2006.
Emery is survived by his daughters, Linda (Joseph) Uhler of Horseheads, and Priscilla (Doug) Shanks of Camillus, NY; loving grandchildren David (Jessica) Uhler, Danny (Valerie) Uhler, Melanie (Gabriel) Wood, Melodie (James) Whittaker, Melissa (Robert) Dunn, Elizabeth Oliver, and Amanda (Shawn) Corcoran; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Carol King, of Dallas TX; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Em worked as a carpenter before his employment and later retirement from Panosian’s in Elmira. He served his county in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon his retirement, he and Betty greatly enjoyed their time at their home on Waneta Lake.
Private services and memorial will be held with the Hough family at a later date. Committal with military honors and interment will be held at the Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.
