Obituary of Betty Jean Margeit
MARGEIT, Betty Jean (Gale)
Age 88, of Horseheads,NY. Betty was born June 19, 1930 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Earl and Ernestine (Morse) Gale. She passed away after a brief stay at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her infant son, Ricky Margeit; her loving husband of 52 years, Henry "Hank" Margeit in 2004; her three brothers and four sisters; as well as her sons-in-law, Patrick Coughlin and Krikor Lussinian. She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Jim) Nassar, Lynda (Ken Bell and his son, Brad (Susan) Coughlin, and Debra Lussinian; grandchildren Jimmy and Joey Nassar, Lauren and Jon Coughlin; three great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Thomas (Esther) Margeit and Bob Robinson; sisters-in-law Louise (Ed) Oksinski and Gretha Gale. Many nieces and nephews, including Barb (Jack) Jones and Babe Bavato, who were always there for her. Betty had many dear friends, including Judy, Peggy, Flo and neighbors Anita and Billy. Betty attended Bloomsburg State College in PA and worked as a substitute teacher and teacher's aide in the Horseheads School District for many years. After retirement, Betty and Hank enjoyed their early morning" walking club" at the Arnot Mall. Betty is remembered as a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She also had a special love of animals, and cared deeply for their well-being. Betty's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and recognition to the staff of Chemung County Nursing Facility (6th floor), CareFirst, and Visiting Angels who all worked tirelessly to support Betty and her family in their time of need. Private services are to be held at the convenience of the family. Flowers are gratefully declined.
